The role of education management information systems in supporting progress towards SDG 4: recent trends and international experiences
This publication highlights good practices and lessons learned in the implementation of EMIS strengthening initiatives, as presented by countries and organizations that participated in the 2018 EMIS Conference, and as found in the existing body of literature on EMIS. It aims to lay out key challenges and lessons learned by countries aiming to develop or strengthen their EMIS, taking into consideration the increasing demands for data, structural challenges within education systems, varying country contexts, and the role of education stakeholders. In doing so, it identifies challenges across different countries and contexts, and describes factors that enable the development of effective EMIS.
